Open Call: zarya Artist-In-Residence

Deadline: 8 Jan 2023
Residency period: from Feb, 2023
Residency duration: 6–12 weeks
The Zarya Center for Contemporary Art together with the Golubitskoe Art Foundation are pleased to announce the open call for applications to the year-round Zarya Artist Residency programme.

Zarya Artist Residency looks forward to applications from artists, curators, writers, historians, archaeologists, musicians, interdisciplinary researchers, and other humanities and social sciences specialists. When shortlisting applications, we prioritise projects and research that draw from the local context.

Zarya CCA's artist-in-residence programme in Vladivostok works towards supporting and nurturing contemporary art professionals. One of the residency's purposes is to initiate a dialogue between the close-knit professional community and a wider audience. Since its establishment in December 2014, Zarya Artist Residency has been a touchpoint between representatives of different countries and cultures and has contributed to the development of the art scene in the Russian Far East. More than 90 artists from Russia and abroad, including Ivan Gorshkov, the EliKuka group, Irina Korina, Olya Kroytor, Fabian Knecht, Anastasia Potemkina, Tima Radya, Sergei Sapozhnikov, and Valery Chtak, have participated in the residency. In the summer of 2020, the Golubitskoe Art Foundation's residency programme succeeded to Zarya Artist Residency, hosting researchers, curators and artists, including Varvara Busova, Lyokha G., Alisa Yoffe, and Nikolay Smirnov at its quarters on the Taman Peninsula.
