International residence Camp As One is located at the Chernomorsky Recreation Center in Anapa. The residence was founded in 2018 by Diana Kazanchyan and ZIP art group; curated by Masha Kotlyachkova. Residence period: 10 days in late August. Language: English. We help artists from different countries gather and work together and carry out collective practices—e.g. performances, dances, visual art—that usually cannot fit in the commercial gallery format. The purpose of the collective retreat at the recreation center is facilitating cross-cultural communication and exchanges, in and beyond Russia. We provide residents with accommodation and dining, invite an interpreter, and assist international participants with visa and invitation formalities. The number of residents can be 30 to 35 people. Every room is accommodated by a small group of artists—to create the environment of a Soviet camp. To apply, the artist needs to submit a suggestion on a collective activity, ritual, or exercise. Then, the program is formed from the suggestions, and practices are scheduled. At the end of the residence period, we neither hold an exhibition nor ask the members to leave their pieces: what we value in the event is collective exchange. We also invite a photographer who lives together with the artists and shoots all the activities.
