The "Artist in Residence" program was opened at Fabrika in 2008 and is aimed at foreign artists. Due to the unusual territory and a local neighbourhood with Russian artists, the program's residents have the opportunity not only to get acquainted with the participants of the local art scene, but also to present an exhibition project or make a presentation of their research in Fabrika's halls. The industrial nature of the place often influences our residents: more and more often, applications are sent by artists working with installation, print graphics, sculpture, performance and contemporary dance.
One of the main Fabrika's features is the possibility for different and unusual collaborations. For example, Fabrika has printing workshops (Piranesi Lab), an animation studio (Animation workshop) and a film pavilion, which can be accessed by residents of the program.
During its existence, the residence managed to cooperate with the Swiss Council for culture Pro Helvetia, the Austrian Cultural Forum, the French Institute in Moscow, the Brazilian cultural center, the Goethe Institute and others.
