Founder: Maria Sarkisyants, Polina Yegorushkina (Pomidor art group)
Duration: 2 weeks Selection Method: by invitation
The POMIDOR residence is a community-art project. This is the first-ever home residency project in Russia that was created for artists and by artists. The project is unique in being located right in the home of one of Pomidor art group members—Maria Sarkisyants. The home has a spacious workshop with a mezzanine and a separate entrance, allowing the resident to enjoy a sense of freedom and privacy. At the same time, there is always the opportunity to interact with the people living in the house in the living room, dining room, or garden.
The POMIDOR residence does not have a traditional open call. Artists regularly have to go through rejections from various institutions. In our residency program, we leave the choice up to them and send out invitations to the people who interest us. Our wish to see many diverse people in the future. Not just artists but philosophers and scientists, those who need privacy and a change of scenery for their work. We invite new participants four times a year.
The program of the residency is different for every participant. Meetings and public events will regularly occur on weekends. An active online and offline program would be expected of the residents, providing them with a platform to share their values and latest projects. We also invite beginner artists to come over on weekends and take part in workshops, portfolio reviews and public talks given by the residents, as well as to view our residents' broadcasts and get in touch with them online.
